Mr. Lionel graduated with a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2017 with expertise in materials development for separators and electrolytes for fuel cells and batteries. At Genplus, Lionel, as Head of Energy Storage Systems, leads a team in developing ESS for marine applications and 2nd life ESS and the corresponding battery management systems. In 2020, Lionel and his team established a local manufacturing facility for high power battery packs in Singapore, created expertise in battery pack manufacturing and quality assurances. He had since successfully brought new designs from conceptualization, to design, development, production, and all the way to deployment, testing and commissioning of the systems. To date, Genplus had successfully deployed 2nd life battery ESS in Singapore and is currently working on obtaining type approval for Marine ESS.
