Argonne distinguished Fellow and director of the Advanced Lithium Battery Technology program, Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, Illinios, United States.

Prof.Dr. Khalil Amine is an Argonne Distinguished Fellow and the leader of the Advanced Battery Technology team at Argonne National Laboratory, where he is responsible for directing the research and development of advanced materials and battery systems for electric vehicles, smart grid, satellite, military, and medical applications. Prof. Dr. Amine is also the Co-director of the US-German initiative on interface. He serves as a member of the US National Academy of Engineering, the US National Academy of inventors, the European academy of sciences and committee member of the U.S. National Research Consul at US Academy of Sciences on battery related technologies. He is also an adjunct professor at Stanford University and held a joint appointment as Professor at the University of Chicago. Among his many awards, Prof. Dr. Amine is 2023 recipient of Kuwait prize, 2019 recipient of the mega global energy prize, a 2003 recipient of Scientific America’s Top Worldwide 50 Researcher Award, a 2009 recipient of the US Federal Laboratory Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer, 2013 DOE Vehicle technologies office award and is seven-time recipient of the R&D 100 Award which is considered as the Oscar of technology and innovation. In addition, he was awarded the ECS battery technology and battery research awards, the international battery association award, NAATB lifetime achievement award and IBA Yeager award. Prof. Dr. Amine holds 224 patents and patent applications and has 856 publications with google h-index of 195. From 2010-2025, Prof. Dr. Amine was the most cited scientist in the world in the field of battery technology with over 131,700 citations. He serves as the executive director and president of IMLB. He is also the chairmen of the international automotive lithium battery association, ECS fellow, Fellow of the international association of advanced materials, and associate editor of the journal of Nano-Energy.

Mr. Haruchika Ishii is a Business Development Fellow at Toshiba Corporation’s Battery Division, where he leads international business development and new market creation for Toshiba’s proprietary lithium-titanate battery technology, SCiB™.

With more than 25 years dedicated to SCiB™ across its full lifecycle, Mr. Ishii served as the lead design engineer of the first-generation SCiB™ cell, and subsequently as the product engineering lead during the commissioning and ramp-up of Toshiba’s Kashiwazaki plant — Toshiba’s flagship mass-production facility purpose-built for SCiB™. He then expanded his career into international business development across China and Asia, and became the inaugural Toshiba representative and executive at TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Gujarat Private Limited (TDSG), the joint venture between Suzuki, Denso, and Toshiba for lithium-ion battery production in India. In recognition of his contributions to the development and commercialization of SCiB™, he was jointly awarded the Technology Award (Tanahashi Award) of the Electrochemical Society of Japan in 2014, alongside the SCiB™ core development team at Toshiba.

Building on this end-to-end experience — from cell design and mass manufacturing to international joint ventures and market development — he currently spearheads SCiB™ business expansion across the ASEAN region, including the ongoing next-generation EV bus deployment in Putrajaya, Malaysia, in partnership with Elektromodula Sdn Bhd (EMSB), and the development of lease- and subscription-based battery service models for commercial fleet operators across the region.

Prof. Zhang Yuegang, a physicist and materials scientist, received his Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Tokyo in 1996. He began his career developing carbon nanotubes and later advanced lithium–sulfur battery research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he pioneered high-performance sulfur cathodes. His work on in situ solid electrolyte formation has significantly improved all-solid-state lithium–sulfur batteries. In 2016, after returning to China, he founded Monta Vista Energy Technologies in Suzhou, focusing on commercializing innovative battery systems for drones, electric vehicles, and large-scale energy storage. Prof. Zhang also serves at the Department of Physics, Tsinghua University, continuing to drive progress in next-generation energy storage.

Dr. Kent Jian Tu is the CEO of Li-Fun Technology Co., Ltd., bringing nearly two decades of expertise in advanced battery materials and technology development. He received his Ph.D. in Materials Science from Zhejiang University in 2006.

Dr. Tu began his professional journey as one of the earliest Ph.D. engineers at Amperex Technology Limited (ATL, now part of CATL), where he served as a Principal Engineer and played a key role in the development of next-generation lithium-ion batteries. His career has consistently bridged R&D and commercialization, helping accelerate the adoption of innovative energy storage technologies.

He founded Li-Fun Technology in 2013 and recently founded NatFound Technology, Ltd., a company dedicated to developing blade-type sodium-ion batteries for vehicle and energy storage applications.
