Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul

President, Thailand Energy Storage Technology Association (TESTA)

Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul is the co-founder and President of the Thailand Energy Storage Technology Association (TESTA) and serves as the Energy Innovation Research Group Director at the National Energy Technology Center in Thailand.

With over 25 years of experience in both academic and industry settings, Dr. Limthongkul has been at the forefront of developing energy storage materials and systems to support the transition to electric vehicles and renewable energy. Her extensive work has resulted in over 70 scientific publications, 20 patents, and the founding of two battery companies.

   Dr. Ing. Thomas Budiarto, S.T., M.T.

Thomas holds a Doctoral Degree in Energy and Process Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin, where he successfully defended his dissertation on modeling process dynamics in membrane-electrolyte assemblies of chloralkali electrolyzers. With extensive experience in sustainability, energy management, and process engineering, he has contributed to projects across academia, industry, and government.

Currently, Thomas is a Researcher and Lecturer at the Energy Management Laboratory, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), where he lectures and leads projects on smart battery management systems, grid-scale energy storage, and EV charging ecosystems. He has also served as a consultant for the Asian Development Bank, mapping battery value chain capabilities in Indonesia and Australia while identifying opportunities for bilateral partnerships. His expertise spans energy policy, hydrogen energy conversion, decarbonization strategies, and industrial energy efficiency.

A frequent speaker at public and private institutions, including ITB, TU-Berlin, and corporate sustainability workshops, Thomas has contributed to techno-economic assessments, renewable energy integration, and process optimization. He has published multiple papers in international conferences and journals.

Drawing from his experience as a professional energy auditor and industrial energy manager, Thomas continues to drive innovation in sustainable energy solutions. His work bridges research, policy, and industry, contributing to Indonesia’s green energy transition.

Dr. Nonglak Meethong

Dr. Nonglak Meethong is a recognized expert in materials science and energy storage technologies. As the Vice President of the Thailand Energy Storage Technology Association (TESTA), she plays a pivotal role in promoting advancements in battery research, energy storage solutions, and sustainable energy initiatives across Thailand and the ASEAN region.

In addition to her leadership at TESTA, Dr. Nonglak serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Khon Kaen University. Her research focuses on materials development for energy storage systems, including lithium-ion and solid-state batteries, contributing to innovations that support cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.

Engr. Jeun Rei Barlis

Engr. Jeun Rei Barlis is a dedicated researcher and academic professional with a passion for advancing transportation and energy sustainability. Currently serving as an Academic Service Faculty at De La Salle University (DLSU) and a Lead Researcher at Transportation and Automotive Laboratory for Engineering Research (TALyER), he works on projects that drive innovation in the transportation sector. His expertise in modeling and policy development has contributed to various industry collaborations, including his role as the Assistant Executive Director of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines. With degrees in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering, he continues to bridge academia and industry through research and advocacy.

Ikhwanul Mufid, S

Ikhwanul Mufid is a dynamic professional with a strong background in corporate engagement/communication and human capital management. Currently, he serves as Corporate Engagement at the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), where he plays a key role in fostering strategic partnerships and promoting advancements in battery research and sustainable energy solutions. Simultaneously, he holds the position of Human Capital & General Affairs at SHF Architect, ensuring seamless organizational operations and talent management within the architecture industry.

A distinguished graduate of International Relations from Andalas University (Class of 2023), Mufid was recognized as one of the top students in his field. His expertise in stakeholder relations, corporate communications, and human capital development enables him to bridge industry needs with innovation and sustainability. Passionate about fostering collaborations and driving impactful initiatives, he continues to contribute to the growth of both sectors he is involved in.

Dr. Derrick Fam

Asst. Prof. Derrick Fam obtained his Bachelor of Engineering and Doctorate from the School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), NTU, in 2006 and 2012, respectively. In 2013, he was awarded the A*STAR International Fellowship (A*IF) and did his postdoctoral research in Imperial College London in 2014, working on structural supercapacitors. In 2016, he returned to Singapore and joined the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, A*STAR. In 2021, he joined the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University as an adjunct faculty. He lectures on high throughput methods for materials discovery, basic electrochemistry, and energy storage. He is currently serving as the Programme Director for the Structural Power for portable and electrified transportation (AME programme) that is focused on developing structural solid-state batteries for various applications. He is also serving as the Deputy Director for the Singapore Battery Consortium looking into catalysing private-public partnerships through innovative research collaborative efforts in the battery field.

Ir. Tengku Kahar

Ir. Tengku Kahar was appointed as Vice President, Strategy in January 2024. He is an active member involved in leading various consortium and associations that NMB was involved in such as the Swappable Battery System Consortium, ASEAN Battery Network, Malaysia Nanotechnology Industrial Group (MNIG), and Malaysia Hydrogen Industry Alliance (MHIA). He also initiated new battery development training programmes for the Hydrogen – EV – Battery Centre (HEBATT) to fulfil its role as a Centre of Excellence. Prior, he held the position of Vice President of Special Projects Office. Under his care, a number of major R&D project works were completed involving hydrogen technologies and EV’s especially related to energy storage. He led the development of a white paper to convert ICE to EV that was approved by the Government in 2023 for JPJ and MOT to adopt. Prior to joining NMB, he was with the Ministry of Transport in the Strategic Planning and International Division, transferred after the dissolution of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) in 2018.

Prof. Ir. Endra Joelianto

Prof. Ir. Endra Joelianto is a prominent academic and researcher specializing in control systems, automation, and intelligent transportation technologies. He currently serves as the Director of the National Center for Sustainable Transportation Technology (NCSTT), where he leads initiatives to advance sustainable mobility solutions in Indonesia and the ASEAN region.

In addition to his leadership role at NCSTT, Prof. Endra is a Professor at the Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB). His extensive research has contributed significantly to enhancing energy efficiency, safety, and innovation in transportation systems.

Dr. Jose Bienvenido Manuel M. Biona

Dr. Jose Bienvenido Manuel M. Biona is a prominent figure in the fields of electric mobility and sustainable transportation. As the Executive Director of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), he actively advocates for the growth and development of the EV industry in the region.

In addition to his role at EVAP, Dr. Biona is a Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering at De La Salle University (DLSU), where he combines his academic expertise with extensive industry experience. His work has played a crucial role in advancing EV-related policies, technology development, and sustainability initiatives in the Philippines.
